Sam Maloof on Craft

"We marvel and exclaim about the machine, and yet nothing has been designed or made, nor ever will be, as wondrous as the hands of man. What it produces has no element of surprise or feeling that an object made by hand may have. It leaves no room for change."

"There’s a lot of work being done today that doesn’t have any soul in it. The technique may be the utmost perfection, yet it is lifeless. It doesn’t have a soul. I hope my furniture has a soul to it."

Flight of the Conchords

'What the Folk! Folk the what? Lost you already?'

Jemaine Clement, a standout from American Outback Steakhouse commercials, and his partner Bret McKenzie bring their musical comedy act to HBO next month.

Premise: "Bret and Jemaine have moved to New York in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they've managed to find a manager (whose "other" job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) -- but not much else."

HBO's new comedy series, Flight of the Conchords premieres June 17th. Hilarious.

The duo will also perform at Bumbershoot over Labor Day.

What a Drag - its Back to Drip

As it turns out, drinking unfiltered coffee (coffee press) raises your (LDL=bad) cholesterol levels. Filters seem to remove most of the cholesterol-boosting substances found in coffee. Back to the drip. Drat.
